Hey all, I have already requested to take part in the event listed below, I encourage anyone out there interested to take part if they can. Although I doubt I’d be able to attend in person, I will be doing a number of Sketch cards.
In all seriousness it’s not often enough that we get a chance to help out in our own way. Even if you can’t make time in your busy schedule to take part, I encourage you to pass this on to any friends or associates who may.
Thanks,
Mike Gagnon
Blue Line is sponsoring a Sketch Card Gallery Exhibit on March 8, 2008 at Comics2Games in Florence, Kentucky. This show is open to all artists. Blue Line will send sketch cards for the artist to do their illustrations and Comics2Games will set up the display for the event. The Exhibit will be up all day with a get-together with some of the artists from 5 to 8pm that evening. Then, after the show, the cards will be auctioned on eBay with the proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society.
Cancer has touched the lives and families of so many artists and writers, faced with fighting this terrible disease. So, consider taking the time to illustrate a few cards for a good cause. Blue Line is supplying the sketch cards for the show and will mail blank cards to artists upon request to illustrate for this event.
The cards can feature most any characters (including your own) with some exceptions on licensed properties such as Star Wars.
For more information to contact Comics2Games at (859) 647-7568 you can contact Jeremy Bell at jeremyb@comics2cars.com on how you or an artist you know can participate in the event for this worthy cause!

Legendary Rockers Help Celebrate the Deuce's 75 Year Roll
Jeff Beck, Michael Anthony, Jimmie Vaughan and Billy F. Gibbons Jam for Charity
Los Angeles, CA (PRWeb) March 1, 2007 -- It was four legendary musicians backed by Jimmie Vaughan's band that took the stage for charity on Friday night at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Jeff Beck, Michael Anthony, Jimmie Vaughan and Billy F. Gibbons played a set of blues-inspired standards. The set was part of "Deuce Week" a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford. Despite the notable music contributions each have made, they are also respected hot rod enthusiasts.
The Petersen Automotive Museum located in the heart of car country, Los Angeles, California, is known for hosting top-notch car shows and charity events. The event promoted as "the biggest party ever thrown for the Deuce" lived up to the hype. The museum was packed with hundreds of 1932 Ford hot rods, legendary hot rod builders, racers and automotive aftermarket notables. The Deuce Week celebration allowed the rockers to rub elbows with many industry rollers and each were seen talking hot rods.
The night began with an auction of 1932 grill shells that had been customized by notable hot rod builders Barry Lobeck, Pete Chaporis and Roy Brizio. Bruce Meyer hot rod collector and the host for the evening auctioned a signed Fender guitar from each of the rockers and a flamed Yamaha bass from Michael Anthony. The auction raised nearly $60,000, benefiting the museum. "Deuce Week and this concert achieved everything we could have dreamed for the museum. It was not just a historic moment for the Deuce, but for music as well, they sounded fantastic and we appreciate their involvement!" exclaimed Bruce Meyer.
Playing under a massive banner that depicted a 1932 Coupe and Roadster racing, Billy F. Gibbons opened the set and was quickly joined by Vaughan, Beck and Anthony. The music legends all love cars and especially hot rods and that is what brought them together. The performance celebrated an icon of hot rodding; Ford's Deuce. The concert limited to just 1200, was an intimate affair that included the who's who of the custom automotive industry. The event will be remembered for all time as the night that rock and roll celebrated the Deuce!
The Petersen Automotive Museum was opened in 1994 by Robert E. Petersen and his wife Margie. Located in Los Angeles, California in the famous museum district the Petersen Automotive Museum is recognized internationally as a premier automotive destination. The 300,000 square foot structure hosts hundreds of vehicles in both permanent and rotating exhibits. Asbury Park Fights to Keep Music Alive
An online petition and an all-day concert/rally will hopefully keep the Wonder Bar from closing for good due to an emminent domain takeover. The situation with clubs like the Wonder Bar show why the future of Asbury Park's legendary music scene is very much in doubt.
Asbury Park, NJ (PRWEB) February 20, 2007 -- Few were watching as New Brunswick's thriving original music scene of the 1980s came crashing down when club after club closed leaving the Court Tavern as the only game in town. History may be repeating itself in Asbury Park, as the shore town's legendary music scene is now very much in the hands of one company - Asbury Partners - the company in charge of the oceanfront redevelopment plan. Nearly 60% of the venues providing original music in town - and all of the largest venues - are now under their control. An online petition was created to show interest in keeping one of their latest acquisitions alive as a music venue and now an all-day concert/rally will be held on Saturday, March 10th as well.
The Wonder Bar is scheduled to close for good after St. Patrick's Day. The club is a victim of eminent domain and speculation is that the property might become another condominium building. Over 1500 people from around the world have signed a petition to keep the Wonder Bar alive. The petition can be found online at http://www.asburymusic.com/petition or signed in person at the Wonder Bar.
Upstage Magazine is presenting the all-day rally in an effort to show just how important the Wonder Bar is to music fans and to the local community as well. The concert begins at noon and runs until closing time at 2am. In between, 13 bands and seven solo artists will perform. The lineup includes such local favorites as Joe D'Urso, Maybe Pete, Jon Caspi Band, Cool Days End, Michael Patrick & the Suburban Hillbillies, Anthony Fiumano, Agency, Tony Tedesco & Damnaged Goods, and the Danny White Band. It also includes rare Asbury Park appearances by Postmark Twain and Frank Thewes of South Jersey and Wiser Time, Sounds of Greg D, and Souls Release from North Jersey. Rounding out the bill is Keith Monacchio of The Commons, Freddie Fry, George Wirth, Nik Everett, Causeway, and Lone Shark.
"Nearly all of Asbury Park's musical history is in the hands of Asbury Partners now," said Gary Wien, Managing Editor of Upstage Magazine. "They own Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre, The Stone Pony, Fastlane, Baronet Theatre, Club Deep, Tiki Bar, the Casino, and soon will own the Wonder Bar. This basically means that they can either make the music scene thrive or they can kill it. We're hoping that the petition and concert shows them that thousands of people think music is vital to Asbury Park's future. This is not just a piece of the town's past; it is very much linked to its present and can play a major role in its rebirth. People around the world have heard of Asbury Park because of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. Most towns would do anything to have something like that to use for its marketing and we're trying to show Asbury Partners just how valuable the properties they own really are in terms other than real estate value."
"Asbury Park's redevelopment plan suggests that music and entertainment will play a role, but it's difficult to take that serious when Convention Hall and the Paramount Theatre are hardly used at all," added Wien. "If they cared about entertainment they would have found a way to bring events back to those venues on a regular basis. As it is, they are probably the two least used performing arts centers in the state. And if condos are placed across the street you can bet that it will only make things worse."
The Wonder Bar is located at 5th & Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ directly across from Convention Hall. The club will be open early on Saturday, March 10th for the show with music beginning at noon and running throughout the night. The club's restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and people will be able to leave and return with their ticket stub. Tickets are available for $10 from the artists performing as well as online at http://www.asburymusic.com/petition/March10.html Tickets have already been sold to music fans from Virginia to Boston, so those interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
